Story of a piano prodigy

I actually found this story disturbing - I can't help but think how sad this boy's life is going to be as he continues to grow older, and his life becomes more and more focused on music and less balanced. Readers, of course, are welcome to form their own opinions.

Which operatic trouser role are you?

Cute, but you can manipulate the answers somewhat if you have a fairly good knowledge of opera.
My answer?

You're Prince Orlofsky! Oh, the endless millions,
oh, the oceans of vodka, oh, the terrible
crushing ennui. Yeah, we feel real sorry for
you. On the one hand, you're a magnanimous
libertine who just likes making people happy.
On the other hand, you're a batty Russian
stick-in-the-mud who needs a good schmeck on
the head. Gotta admit, though... you throw one
hell of a party.

Which Trouser Role Are You?

I knew I should have picked "fear of being ripped apart by lions".

Finally - an opera blog name update to the opera arias and art songs

Yeah, it meant getting up at 5:30 AM, (sleep is overrated anyway) but I finally updated the song titles in blog.
Performers include: Cecilia Bartoil, Luciano Pavarotti, Jose Cura, Eleanor Steber, Kiri Te Kanawa, Ramon Vargas, Jose Carreras, Placido Domingo and the ever-present Leopold Stokowski, who conducts the Wagner.
As always, enjoy.

Opera + Love sitting in a tree...

Some of my regular listeners have personal blogs (yeah, yeah, i KNOW-but then you would know who I AM, and then I lose my mysterious appeal)
A recent thread has been weaving its way around about love and its meanings. Opera, as we all know, is obsessed with the subject. So...anyone have a fave or not fave operatic love story? and why, folks, why?

Music mix on What's Opera, Doc? today

Beethoven wrote only one opera. What was the name of it?

That was a google search I found in my stats. It made my day, although I feel bad that someone in Toronto came to MY site and didn't find the answer to that question.

FIDELIO, dear listeners, FIDELIO.
The Search right before that one?
